Red Enamel Cups

You already know I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to gift shops since I work near the tourist hub that is London's Southbank, so here's another tale which starts off in one such lovely store!

Whilst browsing in the National Theatre's shop a few weeks ago I spotted these red enamel cups. I'm not sure what it was about them that I liked so much, as I am most definitely not one for camping! Perhaps the colour or the light-weight feel, who knows. Either way, at £7.99 each they would have been an unnecessary purchase, so my credit card stayed firmly in my purse.
Fast-forward to last weekend when Amy and I spent Saturday afternoon perusing her local charity shops for some second-hand bargains. A patterned dress for her, a large J Crew leather bag for me ( I kid you not! And it was only £4.99) We were more than pleased with our purchases.

As we continued on with our shopping mission something familiar gazed back at me from the bric-a-brac shelf. Uh-huh. You're right on the money - it was a pair of red enamel cups - which I duly snapped up on the spot!
And, for me, there are a few very good reasons that these red cups are even better than the ones I saw in the gift shop.

1. I'm a fan of the little dents and scratches. Adds a little character!
2. The black detailing around the rim and handles makes them less plain.
3. The price is right - only 0.75p each!

But what I love the most is that I got the buzz of buying something without breaking the bank -now that's a feeling that never gets old!
